Difficulty Levels

My hikes are rated on a 5-level scale based on distance, elevation gain, terrain, route conditions, and the physical fitness required.

Please note that mountain conditions can change due to weather, season, and trail conditions. The difficulty rating provides general guidance and should be considered together with the hike description.

Level 1 · Very Easy

Suitable for beginners and participants with little or no hiking experience.

Typical characteristics:

  • Short duration (up to 3 hours)
  • Gentle terrain
  • Well-maintained trails
  • Minimal elevation gain (up to 200 metres)

Suitable for:

  • Families
  • Casual walkers
  • First-time hikers

Level 2 · Easy

Comfortable hikes requiring basic fitness.

Typical characteristics:

  • Moderate walking time (3-5 hours)
  • Some uphill sections (up to 400 metres)
  • Clear trails
  • No technical terrain

Suitable for:

  • Most active adults
  • Families with hiking experience

Level 3 · Moderate

Regular mountain hikes requiring good overall fitness.

Typical characteristics:

  • Full-day hiking (5-7 hours)
  • Noticeable elevation gain (400-900 metres)
  • Longer distances
  • Sustained uphill sections

Suitable for:

  • Regular hikers
  • Physically active participants

Level 4 · Challenging

Demanding routes requiring good fitness and previous hiking experience.

Typical characteristics:

  • Significant elevation gain (900-1300)
  • Long hiking days (7-9 hours)
  • Steep terrain
  • Occasional exposure

Suitable for:

  • Experienced hikers
  • Participants comfortable with prolonged physical effort

Level 5 · Difficult

The most demanding hikes in our program.

Typical characteristics:

  • Very long duration (9+ hours)
  • Large elevation gain (1300+ metres)
  • Difficult terrain
  • Significant physical and mental effort

Suitable for:

  • Experienced mountain hikers
  • Participants with excellent fitness
